I started writing the first version of "Raven's Children" in about 1991. I started drawing the first issue in fall 2000, right after moving from Alaska to Illinois. That issue took me almost a year to complete. It was finished in early summer 2001.

I haven't been able to stop messing with it. When the first five issues were collected into trade paperback format in 2002, I relettered some of the very worst pages and redrew a few of the earliest pages, adding the "Shanti" scene. (Originally the issue began with just a couple pages of Jained telling Ronin about the Dog People -- no flashback.) Then in early '04 or so, I started the total redesign that you see in the first few pages, but stalled out after only a few pages and decided to leave the issue the way it is.
