Some notes on "Colors":

1) The fox on Page 4 is an arctic fox, or "snow fox" to the Raven Tribe, not the familiar red fox widespread in the U.S. and Europe. The arctic fox is a more compact animal than the red fox, with a short snout, rounder ears, and a blue-gray coat that turns white in winter. It's found throughout northern Alaska and Canada, and in similar parts of the Raven Tribe's world. The Raven Tribe associate the animal with cunning and resourcefulness, similar to the red fox, hence Deneko's nickname "Snow Fox".

2) On the Raven Tribe's world, the coyote has more pronounced stripes on its face than the American coyote (which is more mottled than striped). This is why Coyote Woman, in the Raven Tribe, has acquired that nickname. The parallel scars on her face remind her tribespeople of the stripes on the coyote's face.
